FRANCIS SEKATE

is the CEO of Change Africa for Good, responsible for managing and coordinating overall operations, including strategy development, marketing, communications and logistics. He was trained to become an electrical engineer, earning his higher diploma from Uganda Technical collage Masaka, followed by a degree in planning and project management from Ndejje University. An entrepreneur by nature, he spent 12 years as co-owner of an electrical engineering firm overseeing major electrical and solar installation projects in East and Central Africa before devoting himself part-time to social issues affecting communities, for example, in 2010 he founded Kalambi Community Outreach project (KACOP).

With the knowledge he gained from overseeing this successful international volunteer-driven venture, combined with the relationships he built with leading NGOs throughout East Africa, in 2017 he turned his attention to creating Change Africa for Good (CAFG), a unique and innovative nonprofit organization based in Uganda, which challenges the traditional model of “voluntourism” by partnering with East African community-based NGOs to design meaningful volunteer programs tied to concrete and measurable goals, and then bring them international volunteers with the right skill sets, training, resources and on-site support to make a measurable and sustainable positive impact in the lives of the people served by the NGOs.
